Requirements

As a Legal Assistant 1, you will perform work in the review, analysis, and processing of various legal documents such as complaints, appeals, enforcement actions, and transactional materials. You will be trained to ensure these documents comply with relevant laws and financial agreements, while developing preliminary recommendations for further action. Additionally, your role will encompass a range of legal secretarial tasks, including word processing, preparing trial materials, drafting responses to inquiries, and maintaining legal files and dockets. You will also be responsible for entering cases into an electronic database, tracking deadlines, verifying citations, and filing documents with courts and agencies. This position requires handling sensitive information in accordance with attorney-client privilege, and while initial tasks will be closely supervised, reviews of a routine nature may be conducted independently as experience is gained.


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of progressively responsible clerical, auditing, enforcement, or investigative experience; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
