Job Description

Summary

This job is for a lead role at a ski area on the West Point Army base, where you'll help visitors with equipment, teach lessons, organize events, and guide a team of staff to ensure smooth operations and great customer experiences.

It's ideal for someone outgoing who enjoys working with people, has hands-on experience in recreation or customer service, and can take charge of a small group.

No advanced degree is needed, but proven skills in skiing or snowboarding instruction will make you stand out.

Key Requirements

  • Work experience dealing with the general public, such as babysitting, volunteering, or customer-facing roles
  • Ability to provide customer service, resolve complaints, and give instructions on equipment use
  • Skills in assisting patrons with facility use, including checking out equipment, safety instructions, and teaching classes
  • Experience planning, conducting, and publicizing special events, social activities, and tournaments
  • Leadership abilities to lead employees, distribute workloads, provide guidance, and train new staff
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in alpine and snowboard lesson instruction (highly preferred for top consideration)

Full Job Description

This position is located at the Army Community Recreation Division at Victor Constant Ski Area. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Resumes must be two pages (or less).

Work experience dealing with the general public (ex: babysitting, newspaper delivery, volunteer work at a church/chapel etc.) This experience must be reflected on your resume to be considered eligible for this position.

In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified": 1.

A minimum of 3 years of experience in alpine and snowboard lesson instruction.

The experience listed above must be reflected on your resume to be considered a Highly Preferred candidate for this position.

Applicants meeting the Highly Preferred criteria will be referred first to the Selecting Official.

All other applicants will be referred for consideration if the certificate (referral list) is returned with no selection. Major Duties:

  • Assures customer service is satisfactory by receiving and resolving customer complaints, providing information and general instructions on the use of equipment, and facilitates the machinery.
  • Assists patrons in the use of the facility by checking out equipment, providing safety instruction, demonstrating new equipment, teaching classes etc.
  • Plans, conducts, publicize and arrange support for special events, social activities, tournaments and related functions.
  • Leads the work of other employees. Distributes and balances work load. Provides leadership, guidance and oversight in program operations. Provides on-the-job training to new employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
