Summary

This job is for a lead project manager at a U.S.

As a Lead Project Manager, you will you will oversee and coordinate complex USCIS HRIT projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget, while supporting the Branch Chief through project management, reporting, and daily operational assistance.

The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 03/20/2026.

Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service.

  • Organizational Location: This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, within Human Resources Information Technology, and are assigned based on the need of the agency.
  • Provide project management advice on the management of various complex projects and initiatives within USCIS HRIT.
  • Oversee all aspects of assigned projects, setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, and monitoring the progress and overall success. Prepare reports to the Branch Chief
  • Facilitate studies and review designs to assess unmet and inadequate systems support, and propose projects and programs to create more robust HR information systems.
  • Serve as a coach, facilitator and/or trainer for team members, leading the team in assessing strengths and weaknesses, guiding teammates on complex matters, and providing sound solutions to challenging and critical problems.
  • Coordinate with other leads, supervisors and peers to establish team objectives, goals, priorities and deadlines, and to formulate plans to meet substantial changes in workload
  • Provide recommendations to the manager on matters related to adjustments to work operations to meet priorities, or changing programs, or production requirements while maintaining integrity of work products.
  • Lead, coordinate, communicate, integrate and is accountable for the overall success of assigned projects, ensuring alignment with agency priorities.
  • Develop project plans to design, test, integrate, and/or maintain proposed system improvements and enhancements, ensuring compliance with system development life cycle standards.
  • Define critical quality factors, process improvements on key initiatives that result in measurable improvements in service delivery, reduced operational costs, increased quality, and reduced process cycle time.
