About the Position: This position is assigned to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy (DASD (MC&FP), Assistant Secretary of Defense for Manpower and Reserve Affairs (M&RA), Office of the Under Secretary of Defense, Personnel and Readiness (USD (P&R)).

This position may be eligible for situational telework as determined by the agency policy.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing a variety of programs concerning a variety of education and employment programs focused on the military spouse community, conducting special assignments on high-priority issues, reviewing assigned programs for potential deficiencies, implementing changes to programs, and leading employees in the performance of work objectives set by the supervisor.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14).

Major Duties:

  • Develop a variety of programs, services, and training responsive to the needs of service members and their families.
  • Integrate initiatives across programs and contracts servicing the program to ensure alignment to strategic priorities.
  • Develop and oversee implementation of procedures and guidelines concerning a variety of education and employment programs focused on the military spouse community.
  • Provide expert advice regarding these programs to senior leaders.
  • Identify and implement spouse education and employment strategies.
  • Research and analyze information to prepares reports for MCFP.
