Full Job Description

You will serve as a TRAINING SPECIALIST in the Pipe Shop (Code 960), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901) Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying practical knowledge of various training methods, procedures, devices, and resource and performing research to develop and maintain a broad knowledge of all phases of employee development and training Experience developing, initiating, scheduling, and implementing programs for the development of personnel through Continuing Training and Development Program.

Experience understanding trade standard operating procedures, NAVSEA instructions, shipyard and shop polices and instructions for non-nuclear ship repair projects.

Experience conducting audits of shop trade theory/core tasks records and qualification records for conformance with established guidelines.

Experience maintaining a comprehensive electronic (PDF or Word) file of Mechanic Training Folders (CTD Related) to include training taken, attribute sheets, date started, and date completed.

Experience conducting classes in which they are the lead instructor/facilitator.

  • You will participate in developing, initiating, scheduling, and implementing programs for the development of personnel through Continuing Training and Development Program.
  • You will communicate with other training departments and codes who will support your Code/Shop with data and support as appropriate, in order to use the data/support to inform the CTD for continuity purposes.
  • You will spot audit shop trade theory/core tasks records and qualification records, for conformance with established guidelines.
  • You will coordinate in the procurement, storage and use of instructional materials and textbooks, audio-visual aids, training devices, and laboratory equipment.
  • You will maintain a comprehensive electronic file of Mechanic Training Folders (CTD Related) to include training taken, attribute sheets, date started, date completed, proficiency rating for the course/JIT/FAM Proficiency.
  • You will maintain a database (input/authentication) of Code/Shop CTD Proficiency Course Schedule on an annual basis to include mechanic, course to attend, date and time.
