To qualify for a Lead Police Officer, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position.
To qualify at the GS-07 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector.
Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement.
Creditable specialized experience includes: Experience that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property.
Experience leading lower graded officers, discussing individual assignments, and reviewing reports and records for completeness and accuracy.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Physical Demands: The work requires extended periods of physical exertion derived from such activities as running, walking, standing, bending, or driving and occasionally lifting, pushing and/or carrying items weighing 50 pounds or more.
Requires stamina, physical agility, and dexterity and the strength to pursue, apprehend, or detain.
The incumbent may be required to exemplify the physical characteristic of agility in the performance of his/her duties.
DoD and DLA regulations require at a minimum an initial and annual physical fitness test.
The individual will also undergo routine training in defensive tactics, active shooter/hostage response, handcuffing and firearms qualifications which require physical agility, dexterity, and stamina.
Lautenberg Amendment: This position requires the incumbent to carry a firearm while in an on duty status only.
Any person who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, cannot lawfully possess a firearm or ammunition (Title 18, U.S.C., section 922 (g)).
Incumbents who have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor crime of domestic violence within the meaning of the referenced statute are not eligible for a police officer position in DLA.
