Basic Requirements: To be hired at the GS-7 entry grade level, applicants must minimally have: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-06) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized Experience is defined as: Assisting with the processing of retired pay transactions while learning established workflow procedures.

Applying on-the-job training to learn specific job tasks, techniques, and policies.

Ensuring assigned work is completed in a timely manner and meets the supervisor's instructions by using available written instructions and reference materials.

GS-11 Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement.

Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-09 or higher grade in Federal Service.** The effective date of your SF-50 must reflect that you will meet the 52-week time in grade requirement within 30 days of the announcement closing.

Awards SF-50 will not be accepted to determine eligibility** You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

Major Duties:

  • Responsible for providing instructions, distributing and balancing the workload employees (base level GS-07) who perform such work as processing a wide variety of retired pay transactions.
  • Keep in touch with the status and progress of work, and makes day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established priorities.
  • Distribute and balance the workload among employees in accordance with established work flow or job specialization.
  • Give on-the-job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices.
  • Maintain a current knowledge and answers questions of other employees on procedures, policies, directives.
  • Resolve simple informal complaints of employees and refers others to supervisor.
  • Make information suggestions to supervisor as requested concerning promotions, reassignments, recognition of outstanding performance, and personnel needs.
