Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading technical work on advanced radar systems for Navy ships, including troubleshooting issues, testing equipment, and training others in a support role based in Italy.

It focuses on ensuring radar and missile defense systems are ready for missions.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a LEAD ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN (AN/SPY-1 RADAR) in the Combat System Weapons Division of FORWARD SHIP SUSTAINMENT NAPLES, Italy.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Applying expert knowledge of AN/SPY-1 RADAR and RADAR Signal Processor (SIGPRO) and; 2) Advising stakeholders on techniques available to test all associates Ballistic Missile Defense equipment and auxiliary support equipment and; 3) Utilizing analytical and diagnostic techniques to resolve complex problems with AEGIS weapon systems.

  • You will provide technical assistance for urgent mission-degrading Casualty Reports (CASREPS) or requests for technical assistance affecting assigned subsystems, without customary references, and requiring direct communications with ships' officers.
  • You will perform functional checkout, assessment, adjustment, and test of new or modernized shipboard systems in a systems qualifications test environment.
  • You will participate in ordnance alterations (ORDALTs), ship alterations, and field changes which include modification of components.
  • You will perform shipboard assessments to validate material and operational readiness of assigned systems (e.g., AEGIS AN/SPY-RADAR systems and subsystems).
  • You will train internal personnel on methodologies for performing technical work on RADAR communication systems.
