Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team of technicians in calibrating and repairing radiation detection instruments to ensure accurate worldwide measurements for the Navy.

The role includes providing technical guidance, troubleshooting complex equipment, and overseeing quality control and training programs.

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying knowledge of Radiation Detection, Indication, and Computation (RADIAC) instruments and test equipment to formulate procedures for resolution.

Experience applying knowledge of RADIAC systems and their operating requirements to be able to perform technical engineering services. Experience preparing and reviewing repair/calibration reports.

Experience applying knowledge of technical engineering concepts, principles and practices necessary to performing the full range of projects concerned with producing, overhauling or redesigning systems.

Successful completion of the RADIAC Instrument calibration/Maintenance course (RICC) is a requirement prior to placement.

  • You will serve as the Lead Technician in the specialized area of Radiation Detection, Indication, and Computation (RADIAC) Instrument Calibration and repair.
  • You will lead RADIAC Calibration Laboratory technicians and contractors to ensure worldwide radiation measurements are accurate and reliable.
  • You will provide the quality control oversight on the work performed by lower level/contract technicians within the Branch.
  • You will provide technical assistance/guidance to the team, In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA), RADIAC research and Development program.
  • You will instruct employees in specific tasks and jobs techniques.
  • You will provide technical oversight and coordination in the use of highly complex precision measuring equipment and electronic instrumentation.
  • You will troubleshoot and diagnose problems in the very complex circuitry involved in the many various types of radiation detection instrumentation.
  • You will administer the RADIAC training and qualification program to the team in accordance with established NAVSEA guidelines.
  • You will provide technical guidance and technical assistance on assigned systems.
  • You will investigate, analyze and resolve problems pertaining to the design, installation, maintenance, operation and resolve problems.
  • You will review repair/calibration reports and certification sheets from data obtained during testing.
