This job involves leading a team to manage and improve the Minotaur software system for the Navy, including moving it to a new government setup, training developers, and ensuring it works well across different platforms without disrupting ongoing operations.
It's ideal for an experienced software leader who enjoys solving complex technical problems in a military environment and has a background in guiding teams through big system changes.
The role requires strong planning skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
You will serve as a LEAD COMPUTER SCIENTIST (Minotaur Software Lead) in the MISSION SYSTEMS GROUP and SOFTWARE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.
The incumbent leads the PMA-290 Minotaur Family of Systems (MFOS) in realizing the Aircraft Division and the NAVAIR Strategic Plan.
The position supports the OPNAV requirement to establish Minotaur as a mid-tier acquisition program. The duty location of this position is Patuxent River, MD.
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-13) grade level or pay band (DP-04) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Identifying barriers to resolution of issues, establishing gates and milestones necessary to resolve the issues prior to it impacting a program level milestone, and prioritizing the importance and urgency of each issue; 2) Developing plans and processes for the relocation of a system (i.e.
Minotaur) to a developmental environment; 3) Training developers and expanding to support sustainment for multiple acquisition category platforms with consistent software configuration management; 4) Rearchitecting and/or evaluating legacy software codes and legacy designs/architectures for improved performance and sustainability; and 5) Leading personnel, administering management policies and procedures, and coordinating functions between various groups to accomplish intended goals.
