This job is for a laborer at a Navy golf course in Tennessee, where you'll handle outdoor maintenance tasks like mowing, using power tools, and general upkeep under the supervision of the golf director.
It's ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, has experience with equipment and tools, and can follow instructions carefully in a team setting.
No advanced education is needed, but physical fitness and attention to safety are key.
This position is located at the Golf and Outdoor Recreation Division, which is part of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department aboard Naval Support Activity Mid-South, Millington, TN.
Incumbents are under direct supervision of the Golf Course Director. The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of duties in support of the Glen Eagle Golf Course.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Knowledge of safe and efficient operating techniques of various large equipment and power tools: (Operates a variety of power equipment to include, but not limited to: posthole diggers, blowers, weed eaters, power washers, mowers, box trucks with lift gate, etc.) Ability to operate and control riding mowers on slopes which requires constant attention to working space and environment.
Ability to safely operate equipment around buildings, walls, trees, fence lines, banks and hillsides, trenches, curbs, rocks and other visible obstacles.
Ability to operate various controls and levers to maneuver equipment and lift/lower, adjust, engage/disengage components or attached devices.
Knowledge and skill using hand tools and other equipment such as: shovels, rakes, hammers, bars, saws, axes, loppers, wrenches, brushes, brooms, ladders, banding equipment, and pallet jacks.
Ability to complete assignments involving several tasks by following detailed processes which require remembering directions, sequences, following simple drawings, etc.
Ability to follow general instructions or read simple drawings to perform tasks requiring significant manual skill.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience.
You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Major Duties:
Loads and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from trucks, dollies, etc. Moves heavy boxes or cartons by hand, truck, or dolly. where directed.
Opens crates and boxes using crowbars and cuts bands using shears. Stacks boxes and cartons or cartons where directed. Using a shovel, digs ditches where grading and sloping is not required.
Fills holes with dirt and levels bumps and low places using shovel, hand tamper, and rake. Runs hand and powered (walking, type) lawnmowers which do not require very heavy physical effort.
Clears small tress and brushes using hatchet, handsaw, or clipper. Moves and arranges furniture as directed. May shovel snow, sand, or dirt from sidewalks.
Collects and empties garbage cans, burns garbage, and trash. Washes and waxes cars and trucks by hand or using powered buffer. Performs other related duties as required.
