This job is for a student helper in the human resources office of the Michigan State Police, where you'll assist with tasks related to employee relations and managing disabilities in a busy environment.

Full Job Description

The Michigan Civil Service Commission is seeking a responsible and motivated individual who has excellent organizational and communication skills to work in a fast-paced Human Resources environment serving the Michigan State Police.

This position will serve as a Student Assistant performing a variety of duties related to assisting the labor relations and disability management sections of the MSP HR Office.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Very strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge with computers and software. Particularly, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong verbal and writing skills.
  • Comfortable working in-person, within an office environment.
  • Comfortable working within a paramilitary organization.
Position Description: Student Assistant

Requirements

This position generally requires current enrollment in high school, vocational or technical school, or post-secondary educational institutions. Specific information on the education and experience required for different class levels is in the job specifications of the Student Assistant class.

Additional Information

The student must provide evidence of enrollment or acceptance to an educational institution.

Student Assistant positions cannot exceed 129 working hours in a calendar month and must be enrolled in at least six credit hours per term, providing proof of enrollment at the start of each term. Student Assistant appointments end the month in which the student graduates or is no longer enrolled in school. A Student Assistant position cannot exceed six years unless otherwise approved by Human Resources.
