This work unit exists to administer the Family and Medical Leave Insurance Program (FAMLI) within the State of Colorado by implementing the procedural provisions of the Colorado Paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance Act. The work unit analyzes and interprets FAMLI law to ensure the propriety of individual claims for FAMLI benefits. The work unit issues legal determinations governing entitlement to and accurate determinations for FAMLI benefits; performs and completes claims analysis and process via the FAMLI computer systems; applies state law, policies, and procedures; departmental policies and procedures; and unit practices and procedures to provide customer service and adjudicate FAMLI claims in the most efficient, equitable, and effective manner.

This unit specializes in adjudicating FAMLI claims for monetary benefits These positions will be receptive to FAMLI Claims Team training to:
  • Provide outstanding customer service to both external customers and internal team members via detailed and comprehensive notes in the My FAMLI+ system and via telephone & Salesforce
  • Utilize analytical skills and work direction to ensure compliance with FAMLI policies when adjudicating FAMLI leave claims
  • Multi-task and meet turnaround deadlines
  • Demonstrate independent problem solving and decision-making ability
  • Work independently off-site, as well as within a collaborative remote team environment
  • Understand general medical terminology as used in claim documentation
  • Adopt and support the FAMLI team values
  • Achieve state learnings and training standards as assigned
  • Other work assignments at needed
Under off-site supervision this position adjudicates FAMLI leave claims by reviewing claim accuracy, or other L&E I claimant services functions to assist FAMLI Claims Adjudication Unit and other units on an as needed basis. Ensure work performed is accurate, timely, and complete. Ensure compliance with all state, federal, departmental, and unit laws, policies, procedures, and standards. Ensure proper interpretation and application of state and federal law and the propriety of claim status, entitlement, and eligibility. Maintain acceptable levels of performance and ensure adequacy of documentation and reasoning process. Integrate and assimilate new or modified policies, practices, or procedures into daily routines. May use Family and Medical Leave\ Insurance (FAMLI) computer systems along with Microsoft and Google products, such as Excel, and Word.
