Job Description
Summary
This part-time job involves working directly with troubled youth in juvenile justice facilities, providing supervision, counseling, and support to help them in secure or community settings.
You'll assist in daily activities, ensure safety during potentially risky situations, and coordinate with community resources to aid their rehabilitation.
It's ideal for motivated individuals over 19 who enjoy challenges, can handle rotating shifts including nights and weekends, and have a passion for guiding young people toward better futures.
Key Requirements
- At least 19 years of age
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Utah Driver's License
- Availability for rotating shifts including nights, days, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking over rough surfaces, bending, and physical intervention in volatile situations
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience or willingness to work with delinquent adolescents in secure or community-based environments

JJYS Technician I- Springville (Part-Time)
If you would like a position working with today's youth, then you are in the right place! A great way to start your career in Juvenile Justice is to become a Technician I. A Juvenile Justice Technician's work with delinquent adolescents in the following types of environments:
- Short- and long-term secure confinement
- Multi-use facilities
- Community-based programs
Roles and Responsibilities
- Assists in planning programs for youth, counsels youth under supervision, and provides direct care, supervision, and control of youth in secure, multi-use and related facilities
- Works under moderate supervision with delinquent adolescents in short and long term secure confinement, observation, and assessment settings, in multi-use facilities or community based programs.
- Oversees delinquent youth in group settings, individual encounters, visitations and community involvement activities.
- Schedules activities and resolves potentially dangerous situations to ensure the safety of staff, clients, and or the public.
- Writes or drafts correspondence, reports, documents and/or other written materials.
- Coordinates and refers services of community resources, placement providers, collateral agencies, the court, and/or other community partners with families, clients, or patients receiving services.
- Assists full time staff in identifying and applying appropriate security, safety, and/or control intervention techniques or devices to secure people, facilities, property, supplies or equipment
- Communicates information and ideas clearly, and concisely, in writing; read and understand information presented in writing
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a motivated individual who enjoys being challenged while working with troubled youth. We are looking for a candidate who is available to work rotating shifts, which will include primarily nights but may also include days, weekends and holidays. Has a valid Utah Driver's License.
