Job Description

Summary

This job is for an IT specialist focused on managing and securing computer systems for the Navy, including handling system performance, cybersecurity, and risk analysis to keep operations running smoothly.

It involves working with hardware, software, and networks to support teams and resolve technical issues.

Your resume must demonstrate one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

DS-05: In addition to experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11/12) or pay band (DS-04) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience includes duties related to the following: 1) Managing system resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability; 2) Designing new systems and techniques to support an organization in development, implementation, and maintenance of security systems; 3) Analyzing customer information systems for risk to the organization; 4) Ensuring comprehensive cybersecurity measures are implemented, followed, and recorded in a timely and accurate manner; 5) Ensuring information system inspections, tests, and reviews are synchronized and coordinated with affected parties and organizations.

DS-04: In addition to experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-9/10) or pay band (DS-03) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience includes duties related to the following: 1) Planning and deploying hardware, operating systems, and application software; 2) Managing accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment; 3) Analyzing customer information systems to determine risks for an organization; and 4) Monitoring system recovery processes to ensure security features and procedures and properly restored and function correctly.

DS-03: In addition to experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-5/6) or pay band (DS-02) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience includes duties related to the following: 1) Providing IT support to team members, agencies and leadership; 2) Resolving hardware/software interface and interoperability problems; 3) Assisting with the installation and integrations of system fixes, updates, and enhancements; and 4) Assisting with information systems and user compliance with cybersecurity policy and reviewing the results.

Major Duties:

  • You will be responsible for planning and deployment of new or modified hardware and operating systems and applications software.
  • You will manage accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment.
  • You will install and integrate systems fixes, updates, and enhancements.
  • You will design new systems and techniques to support the organization in development, implementation and maintenance of national, DoD, and DON security systems.
  • You will ensure information systems and user compliance with cybersecurity policy, as appropriate, and review the results of such monitoring, remediation, etc.
