Summary

Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent): For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

In addition: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Examples of specialized experience may include some of the following: 1) Applying methods and approaches for information sharing through the use of IT assets; 2) Utilizing managerial methods and procedures to function as a team leader, including coordinating the efforts of various teams in the implementation of agency wide programs and life cycle management projects to plan and complete assigned workload; 3) Using judgment, initiative and resourcefulness in researching trends and patterns to deviate from traditional methods and to implement new and improved IT methodology, policies, and procedures; 4) Applying knowledge of MS Project or other automated project management software systems sufficient to input and retrieve pertinent budget/program information for assigned projects.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will serve as a Country Desk Officer in the Command, Control, Communication, and Cyber Directorate (J6) of HEADQUARTERS US INDO-PACIFIC COMMAND.
  • You will lead country teams in the execution of the Command-and-Control Interoperability Management Board (CCIMB) with US and Foreign Allies and Partners.
  • You will review, analyze, and study Theater Security Cooperation Plans (TSCP) and prepare appropriate input
  • You will oversee secure communication capabilities, including voice, data, and VTC, to support interoperability forums.
  • You will maintain program/project documentation using MS SharePoint, ensuring accurate, accessible information.
  • You will conduct configuration management for tactical data links, message text formats, and other systems to enable combined communications interoperability.
  • You will support FMS processes, coordinating meetings, tracking requirements, and ensuring stakeholder communication.
