The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the senior information technology (IT) specialist for the 10th Space Operations Squadron (10 SOPS) Networks Flight.

Responsible for ensuring the overall network performance of 10 SOPS' alternate master control station providing expert technical knowledge and skill in network infrastructure, cybersecurity protocols, and system administration.

This is a GG-13 position in the Cyber Excepted Service (CES).

The GG-13 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-13 level.

The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for Individual Occupational Requirements for Information Technology (IT) Management Series, 2210 (Alternative A) BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT Experience: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.

For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

Professional knowledge of engineering, mathematics, statistical analysis, modeling/simulation, and/or other scientific concepts, principles, standards, methods, techniques, practices, and procedures.

Skill in establishing and maintaining effective relationships, negotiating complex issues, and resolving conflicts based on mature judgment, resourcefulness, originality, and experience.

Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency.

Comprehensive knowledge of Information Technology principles, concepts, policies, procedures, and practices, including knowledge of network infrastructure, cybersecurity protocols, and system administration; knowledge in troubleshooting hardware and software issues, as well as familiarity with web, virtualization, and data backup solutions.

Knowledge of and skill in interpreting and applying methods for evaluating, implementing, and disseminating: Information Technology (IT) and IA security tools and procedures; Risk Management Framework (RMF), and network operations and protocols.

3. Expert knowledge in the field of satellite control systems, including, advanced antennas and tracking, telemetry and commanding systems. 4.

Professional knowledge of engineering, mathematics, statistical analysis, modeling/simulation, and/or other scientific concepts, principles, standards, methods, techniques, practices, and procedures.

Broad knowledge of agency, AF, DoD, regulations, policies, guidelines, requirements, and initiatives related to assigned program(s) and/or project(s); knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.

6. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective relationships, negotiating complex issues, and resolving conflicts based on mature judgment, resourcefulness, originality, and experience. 7.

Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources; ability to modify standard practices and techniques to solve complex interrelated problems; ability to foresee the impact of changing technology.

Other significant facts pertaining to this position are: 1.

Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program.

Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.

Cyberspace Qualification is a condition of employment. This position includes Cyberspace work as a paramount duty requirement.

Per DoDM 8140.03, para 4.2.a.(2)., requires foundational qualification requirements within 9 months of assignment to a cyberspace work role and resident qualification requirements within 12 months of assignment to a cyberspace work role.

A waiver of these requirements may be granted per DoDM 8140.03.

Failure to achieve and maintain the proper Cyberspace Qualification may result in removal from this position PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

DUTY 1: Plans and organizes the activities of 10th Space Operations Squadron's (10 SOPS) Detachment 1 (DET-1) ensuring that the Department of Networks (DON) complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.

DUTY 2: Serves as a project manager for Satellite Control System research, design, integration, maintenance, and sustainment efforts DUTY 3: Manages 10 SOPS DET-1 information assurance compliance.

Works with the government Information Assurance Manager (IAM) to plan, schedule, and implement IA requirements.

DUTY 4: Provides hardware/system engineering supporting the design, upgrade, integration, installation, testing, and troubleshooting of network ground system hardware.
