Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves working as an electronics technician focused on maintaining and troubleshooting computer networks and systems on Navy ships to keep them ready for missions.
You'll help fix urgent technical issues, test new equipment, and guide others on repairs for hardware and software used at sea.

You will serve as an ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN (AFLOAT NETWORKS) in the Engineering Department of FWD DEPLOYED REG MAINT CTR DET ROTA.
The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Providing technical assistance for urgent mission-degrading Casualty Reports (CASREPS) or any other technical assistance affecting assigned ships subsystems to diagnose, correct, and restore combat readiness; 2) Troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining of Afloat Networks; 3) Evaluating and testing new or modernized shipboard systems for operation of major afloat network subsystems; 4) Developing operational/maintenance procedures and recommend improvement and/or corrective information; and 5) Providing technical guidance on software and hardware systems (e.g., Fiber Attached Storage (FAS), Microsoft Server Update Service (WSUS), Host Based Security System (HBSS), Naval Tactical Command Support System (NTCSS), Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES), and etc.).
