THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (CUSTSPT), Position Description Number D1557000 and is part of the PA 271st Combat Communications Squadron, National Guard.

1 or more Position(s) may be hired against this Announcement. APPOINTMENT STATUS: EXCEPTED This is a Dual Status Excepted Service Technician position in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Bargaining Position AOC 1: NG Employees at the 271st CCS AOC 2: NG employees in the 193 Special Operations Wing (This includes 193rd SOW, 193rd RSG, 193rd AOG, 211th EIS, 201st RHS, 112th ACS, 203rd Weather Flight, 193rd SOW Det 1, 148th ASOS, PA ANG HQ DET 1) AOC 3: NG Employees of the Pennsylvania National Guard AOC 4: All service members of the Pennsylvania National Guard (This includes Traditional Airmen, Temporary Technicians and AGR Personnel) Military Grades: ENLISTED E3 - E7 Supervisor for this position is Maj Wilson Manpower #00881200 *NOTE: Accessioning into this position is contingent upon verification of Secret Security Clearance GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process.

Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.

SPECALIZED EXPERIENCE: Application must indicate at least 36 months experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization.

Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls.

Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment.

Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion.

QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying.

Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed.

The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.

As an IT Specialist (CUSTSP), GS-2210-11, you will monitor, maintain, and recommend optimum voice and data network systems configuration and architecture, to include administering and programming the system's messaging, broadcasting, automated attendants, load capacity, call restrictions, and classes of services.

Design, develop and conduct technical and operational tests and evaluations of a wide range of communications equipment and systems.

Install, configure and program networking equipment to include routers, network encryption devices, switches, channel switch units (CSU), digital switch units (DSU) and multiplexers using military and commercial protocols such as Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Routing Interchange Protocol (RIP), and Point to Point Protocol (PPP).

Coordinate with outside agencies and customers to provide required services and technical solutions. Develop and manage problem and trend analysis data of communications equipment and systems.

Perform maintenance, strapping, and configuration of Cryptographic units. Develop, establish and maintain work center training programs. Plan and lay out work to be accomplished.

Perform other duties as assigned.
