Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) mission is to lead the Department of Defense (DoD) in finance and accounting by ensuring the delivery of efficient, exceptional quality pay and financial information.

AT THE GS-12: In addition to the Basic Competency Requirements listed above, one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade 11 in the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as Providing development, implementation, operation, and modification of a JAVA application with web and batch components and an Oracle backend; uses knowledge of JAVA, JavaScript, PL/SQL or Oracle; preferred familiarity with the following technologies: Angular, Spring Boot, Azure Cloud, or DevSecOps Pipelines; participating in system requirement reviews and testing; and providing advice and counsel to stakeholders on the capabilities of the application.

AT THE GS-13: In addition to the Basic Competency Requirements listed above, one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade 12 in the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as leading development, implementation, operation, and modification of a JAVA application with web and batch components and an Oracle backend; is an expert in one or more of the languages: JAVA, JavaScript, PL/SQL or Oracle; familiarity with and build solutions with the following technologies: Angular, Spring Boot, Azure Cloud, or DevSecOps Pipelines; leading system requirement reviews and testing; and providing advice and counsel to stakeholders on the capabilities of the application; and serves as advisor to junior team member on technologies.

  • Writing, Debugging, and Maintaining Source Code written in JAVA, PL/SQL, and/or scripting languages.
  • Supporting a web and batch application with an Oracle backend in an Azure Cloud environment.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking while determining how change requests affect both internal and external processes.
  • Performs support for System Development Lifecycle activities, supporting design, development, testing, and implementation using DevSecOps tool suite in compliance with organizational guidelines and federal policies.
  • Work with stakeholders to research system issues and changes to develop requirements for system change requests.
