Job Description

Summary

This job involves providing hands-on IT support for the University of Colorado's advancement office, including fixing computers, installing software, and helping staff with technical issues across campuses.

You'll handle everything from troubleshooting devices to setting up new systems, often using remote tools and traveling occasionally.

Position Summary:

The CU System Office of Advancement provides excellent customer service, strategy, expertise, and efficiency to our partners on CU’s campuses and at the University of Colorado Foundation.

We support CU’s fundraising and engagement goals through advancement operations that include constituent research and?development,?data?management, business intelligence, technical architecture, annual giving, planned giving, gift administration, marketing and communications, IT, budget and finance, and more.?We believe that a healthy office culture is foundational to our success.

The IT professional performs a variety of computer systems administration and support tasks, including analyzing, constructing, documenting, testing, maintaining, troubleshooting and supporting PC hardware, operating systems, software applications, peripherals, and communication devices including hand-held devices for the entire organization.

This position supports CU Advancement and CU Foundation staff on each campus.

This position reports to the Program Director of Advancement IT and is exempt from the State of Colorado Classified Staff system.

Where You Will Work:

This role follows a hybrid schedule, requiring three days per week in the office at 1800 Grant Street, with occasional travel to other campuses.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responds to inquiries and requests for technical assistance assigned through Agentforce Service ticketing system or through specific requests.
  • Delivers personalized IT infrastructure support using remote capabilities and leading-edge automation tools.
  • Travels to and leads computer implementation projects at all Advancement sites, including PC/laptop imaging, software installation, printer installation and repair.
    • Includes equipment moves/set up, installation and moves of wireless access points and switches.
  • Provides support for system tools with employees approved hand-held devices.
  • Identifies, troubleshoots, researches, supports, and resolves IT issues with hardware and desktop applications. Escalates network and server issues and requests as needed.
  • Troubleshoots network connected printers at campus locations.
  • Works with hardware suppliers to initiate repairs under warranty with supplied parts or scheduling time for techs to perform repairs.
  • Assist with managing server backups.
  • Makes recommendations on hardware and software programs.
  • Collaborate with other IT personnel across each of the university campuses.
  • Executes IT project and tasks across all campuses.
  • Responsible for all asset inventory, including the disposal/recycling/transfer of old equipment.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all customers across all campuses.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education or equivalent experience (experience may be substituted by professional experience on a year for year basis).
  • One (1) year of experience working in an IT-related role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years’ experience working in an IT related role including:
    • Experience with technical support.
  • A+ Certification
  • 1 year of experience working in Salesforce

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to utilize:
    • Microsoft Office/O365 Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access)
    • Operating Systems: Windows and Mac OSX
    • Active Directory
    • WDS and MDT imagining software
    • FTP software
    • CRM Tools: Salesforce
    • Asset Management
  • Exercises judgment and decision making in the diagnosis and resolution of computer hardware and software problems.
  • Knowledge of Agentforce Service ticketing system or other incident tracking software.
  • Familiar with Bomgar, TeamViewer or other remote access tools.
  • Basic command line and scripting knowledge.
  • Basic Active Directory knowledge.
  • Exceptional problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve project issues and challenges.
  • Strong attention to detail and deadline orientated.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work on various issues simultaneously, ensuring the integrity of each project.
  • Ability to perform moderate physical activity of handling 50 pounds or more occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to work with users diplomatically and skillfully.
