Job Title: IT Data Management - Journey (Olympia) ETL Developer

Location: Thurston County – Olympia, Washington (this position is full-time Remote)

The Opportunity:Join DCYF’s Application Development team as a Journey ETL Developer, serving as a technical lead who designs, develops, and integrates data using SSIS solutions that power the agency’s mission-critical systems.

In this role, you’ll support complex legacy and modern applications, ensure reliable data integrations and integrity, set development standards, and provide strategic SQL guidance.

You’ll work closely with Application Development leadership, DevOps, Project Management, Testing, DBAs, Trainers, and Product Owners to maintain secure, stable operations and deliver new features that help DCYF programs serve Washington’s children, youth, and families.


Some of what you will get to do:

  • Ensures confidentiality, availability, integrity and quality of DCYF interfaces and data systems.
  • Work regularly with .NET developers, DBAs, and DevOps to ensure regular, controlled data deployments of existing and new database driven applications across various platforms.
  • Develop plan and roadmap for cloud migration and modernization of legacy databases.
  • Perform design, development, quality assurance, verification, testing, optimization, and maintenance tasks.
  • Perform data scrubbing tasks to prepare for system modernization efforts.
  • Create and maintain data models, data dictionaries, and provides entity diagrams when requested.
  • Coach and mentor team members on best practices, new technologies, and data architecture.
  • Meet regularly with product team, project teams, and management to perform requirement gathering, iterations, best practices, design, deployment and on-going enhancements.


Required Qualifications:Six (6) years of progressively more complex responsibility for Data Architecture, Solution Architecture, Database Management, analyzing, designing, or programming data systems, applications or databases in a large organization with 24/7 mission critical systems and complex regulatory, privacy and security requirements.

OR

Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, data management, information systems or related field AND four (4) years of progressively more complex responsibility for Data Architecture, Solution Architecture, Database Management, analyzing, designing, or programming data systems, applications or databases in a large organization with 24/7 mission-critical systems and complex regulatory, privacy and security requirements.

AND Commitment to equity, inclusion, and respectful workplace principles. Additional Required Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment.
  • Experience making presentations and developing documentation for a large, diverse audience.
  • Ability to understand relational databases, data modeling, database schema's, SQL Server Information Services(SSIS) packages, Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS.)


In addition to the requirements above, our ideal candidate will possess some or all of the following:

  • SQL certification or knowledge of SQL Server TSQL.
  • Experience maintaining and supporting Databases in a 24/7 availability situation.
  • Agile Training or Certification.
  • Experience in SCRUM, Agile, and iterative development processes.
  • Experience using a source code versioning management tool.
