Job Description

Summary

This job involves advising on IT policies, planning systems, and managing risks for secure defense networks, focusing on both traditional on-site setups and cloud-based systems to support U.S.

Cyber Command missions. It requires strong problem-solving and communication skills to handle complex technical issues and explain them to non-experts.

A good fit would be someone with experience in IT security, enterprise planning, and working in high-stakes government or military environments.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of IT-related experience demonstrating attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem-solving competencies
  • Experience advising on and developing IT policies for enterprise architecture, systems planning, and lifecycle management

Full Job Description

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service.

It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.

It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure.

It is located in the DISA - DoDNET Services Division, Domain & Identity Services Branch (J9/HC3E1). In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

Basic Requirements: Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating the following competencies appropriate to, or above, the level of this position.

For vacancies below the full-performance level of the position, the basic requirement will be evaluated on a developmental basis.

Attention to Detail - experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been responsible for reviewing the work of others to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards Customer Service - developing and maintaining relationships with customers, anticipating and assessing the current and future information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products or services that are tailored to meet customer needs Oral Communication - briefing senior-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of complex technical information to a non-technical audience Problem Solving - identifying alternatives to address unique, highly complex, or sensitive information technology-related issues.

I have anticipated information technology-related problems and have identified and evaluated potential sources of information to generate alternative solutions.

Qualifying Experience: In addition to meeting the basic requirement, applicants must possess qualifying experience.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position.

Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience advising on and developing IT policies for enterprise architecture, systems planning, and lifecycle management; analyzing IT systems to define strategic requirements for on-premise and cloud infrastructures and evaluating IT systems to identify and manage risks from changes to hardware and operational support models.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment.

  • Develop and maintain business, systems, and information processes to support enterprise mission needs, including IT rules and requirements for baseline and target architectures.
  • Direct comprehensive analyses to define and implement strategic efforts supporting on-premise and off-premise cloud infrastructure operations.
  • Perform needs analyses and consult with customers and vendors to define requirements for new or improved business process solutions and emerging technologies.
  • Provide authoritative technical advice and assistance to system administrators, cybersecurity engineers, and managers on existing and future service offerings and their sustainment.
  • Analyze and identify potential risk areas when implementing hardware changes and modifications to operational support models.
