Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading technical efforts to manage and improve IT systems and cybersecurity for the Department of Defense, focusing on analyzing customer needs, developing solutions, and ensuring secure operations in a hybrid cloud environment.

A good fit would be someone with strong experience in IT analysis, problem-solving, and communicating technical ideas to non-experts, ideally from a government or military background.

The role supports critical cyber missions and requires working closely with internal and external stakeholders to enhance system efficiency and security.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of experience at GG-11 level equivalent, analyzing system and business processes to define IT solutions for improvements or new developments
  • Strong attention to detail in reviewing IT work or data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards
  • Experience in customer service, including assessing IT needs and tailoring products or services to meet them
  • Skilled in oral communication, such as briefing management and staff on IT systems, projects, or operations, explaining technical info to non-technical audiences
  • Problem-solving abilities to identify alternatives for complex IT issues using information from various sources
  • Expertise in providing technical guidance on information security policies to ensure availability and integrity of systems, networks, and data
  • Ability to act as a liaison or project manager with customers on IT development and performance metrics

Full Job Description

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service.

It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.

It is in the Professional Work Category at the Full Performance Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure.

It is located in the DISA J9(HAC)/HYBRID CLOUD SOLUTIONS - PJT PF MGT DIV/PROJECT PORT MGMT BR (ORG HC36). In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

Basic Requirements: Attention to Detail- Experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been asked by others to review their work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards Customer Service - Experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing current information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products and services that are tailored to meet customer needs Oral Communication - Briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience Problem Solving - Identifying alternatives to address complex information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide a number of potential solutions Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-12, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position.

Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience working with internal and external customers conducting detailed analysis of a wide range of system and business processes to define IT solutions to system improvements and/or new system development projects.

All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement. Major Duties:

  • Serves as principal technical authority and lead specialist with responsibility to ensure effective, economical, and advanced technical management of customer computing requirements for assigned systems and applications.
  • Prepares and presents cogent and cohesive analyses and briefings advising DoD and DISA management leadership on new technological developments, techniques, and enhancements that result in increased time and cost efficiencies.
  • Provides expert technical guidance on and oversight of info-sec policies and practices to ensure the operational availability and integrity of enterprise applications, systems, networks, and data.
  • Defines and validates the need for proposed new or improved systems through consultation with program officials in customer program organizations.
  • Serves as the primary liaison or project manager with internal and external customers on information technology development matters and/or systems performance metrics.
