Summary

About the Position: This position is located at Naval Medical Center, Defense Health Agency, Defense Health Network Pacific Rim, Directorate of Clinical Support within the Clinical Pathology Division in San Diego, CA.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes which includes 1) managing and/or conducting supply inventories; 2) preparing vendor orders based on supply and/or stocking requirements; 3) distributing and/or disposal of excess items; and 4) monitoring service and supply contracts for logistics support.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree.

in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such Logistics or Supply Chain Management.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

Major Duties:

  • Responsible for analytical work in managing, regulating, coordination, and exercising control over supplies, equipment, and other material.
  • Facilitate technical oversight, regulation, purchasing and coordination of products and equipment to the organization.
  • Responsible for planning, procurement, provisioning and requirement determination, acquisition and distribution, consumption, retention, and disposal.
  • Stock Supply methods to ensure procurement are fair and at a reasonable cost to the government.
  • Assist with preparing contract modification memoranda when it is determined current contract requirements are insufficient.
  • Assist with initiating, updating, and purchasing of laboratory equipment as those requirements become necessary.
  • Work closely with laboratory leadership and technical supervisors to ensure contract requirements are accurately prepared to compensate for year-to-year workload increases.
  • Make purchases against an established contract or blanket purchase agreement.
