Job Description

Summary

This job involves managing the ordering, tracking, and distribution of food and other goods for military stores overseas, ensuring supplies are available for service members and their families.

It requires working with computer systems to monitor inventory and fix issues.

Key Requirements

About the Position: Position is located at a Defense Commissary Agency, Central Distribution Center (CDC), and is responsible for the central ordering of semi-perishable and perishable brand name merchandise in support of commissaries throughout OCONUS activities within the agency.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to Detail Flexibility Integrity/Honesty Interpersonal Skills Learning Reading Comprehension Reasoning Self-Management Teamwork Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

Major Duties:

  • Ensure all patron requirements are met by ordering accurate quantities of semi perishable and perishable goods in a timely manner.
  • Analyze historical records to determine CDC consumption forecast in order to maintain adequate stocks of merchandise.
  • Ensure product is ordered with sufficient lead time for effective marketing; consideration must be given to transportation lead times, holidays and distribution, as well as consumer desires and demographics.
  • Initiate corrective actions to resolve not-in-stocks or excess conditions, on a continuous basis analyzes product movement and seasonality factors within all stores to optimize product assortment and availability.
  • Review and update Region Stock List (RSL) as necessary, and recommends deleting items with insufficient patron demand and adding products with desirable anticipated patron demand.
  • Lead a team of supply, accounting and shipping personnel performing clerical duties in support of the ordering, tracking, shipping and distribution of semi-perishable and perishable retail products.
