Full Job Description

The Postal Regulatory Commission is offering an exciting three-month internship opportunity for a highly motivated and inquisitive individual to support an AI document indexing project.

The selected intern will report to the Commission's Washington, DC office on a daily basis, with occasional telework permitted.

To be eligible for consideration, your application materials must demonstrate that you have experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of the position described above.

Enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) seeking student and taking at least a half-time academic, vocational or technical course load in an accredited high school, technical or vocational school, 2 year or 4 year college or university, graduate or professional school.

The definition of half-time is the definition provided by the school in which the student is enrolled.

An individual who needs to complete less than the equivalent of half an academic, vocational or technical courseload in the class enrollment period immediately prior to graduating is still considered a student for purposes of this program.

Knowledge of the principles, procedures, and tools of data management, such as modeling techniques, data backup, data recovery, data dictionaries, data warehousing, data mining, data archiving, data disposal, and data standardization processes.

Problem solving, critical thinking/analytical, and investigative/research skills Ability to effectively communicate complex concepts both orally and in writing Ability to collaborate with others in a team Some knowledge of quantitative fields, such as Statistics, Economics, and Finance Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat.

Educational background in AI coding is preferred.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

The 2026 OAC Summer Intern will be responsible for an AI document indexing project.

The direct responsibility of this position is to collect and index over 20 years of PDF, Excel, SAS and other data formats. The project will require developing and implementing a catalog system.

The incumbent will be given clear and actionable direction on how to develop and apply the index. The incumbent will be responsible for collecting the data and applying the index.

The incumbent will be responsible for reviewing the documents and data to ensure the index has been properly and completely applied.

As a capstone to this project, the incumbent will be responsible for developing and proving a training on how to use the AI document search.
