This job involves overseeing construction projects and renovations at a Marine Corps air station in South Carolina, acting as a senior advisor on engineering and architecture matters to ensure projects stay on track with budget, timeline, and quality standards.
You'll manage contracts, visit sites to check progress and safety, and help resolve issues like design problems or unexpected challenges.
It's a great fit for licensed engineers or architects with several years of hands-on experience leading large-scale building projects in government or military settings.
You will serve as a Construction Engineer/Architect (GS-0801, GS-0808) within the Facilities Engineering and Acquisitions Division (FEAD), Public Works Department, Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, SC of Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Mid-Atlantic.
This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates.
The selective placement factor is: You must currently be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) if applying for the 0801 series. You must be a Registered Architect (RA) if applying for the 0808 series.
Your license or registration must be held in any State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

*A copy of a wall certificate that does not show your current status will not suffice to meet this requirement.* In addition to the Basic Education Requirements and Selective Placement Factor, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: 1) Overseeing or providing construction engineering support for capital improvement projects and major facilities renovations; 2) Managing or providing significant assistance to the management of capital improvement projects from conception through close-out, to include scope, schedule and cost; 3) Monitoring construction contractor quality and safety programs via available data and metrics and by conducting site visits; 4) Providing recommendations for resolving project problems due to design errors, unforeseen conditions, or changes in criteria; and 5) Preparing and presenting briefs related to scopes of work, design reviews, contract negotiations, etc.
