Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as an engineer at a naval shipyard in Hawaii, where you'll plan and manage projects to improve facilities and equipment, including repairs, new builds, and maintenance for both nuclear and non-nuclear sites.

You'll develop solutions for equipment needs, conduct site checks, and help select contractors for shipyard work.

It's a good fit for experienced engineers who enjoy hands-on technical problem-solving in a military or industrial setting.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-11 level or equivalent in engineering related to design, construction, operation, and maintenance of utility systems, facilities, industrial equipment, public works, or shipboard systems
  • Professional engineering background in investigating and developing solutions for facility and equipment issues
  • Ability to plan, administer, coordinate, and manage plant equipment improvement projects including repair, construction, renovation, and demolition
  • Experience ensuring project development, execution, and quality in nuclear and non-nuclear facilities
  • Knowledge to create and implement preventative maintenance plans and serve as technical subject matter expert for industrial plant and testing equipment
  • Proficiency in conducting site visits to verify equipment and facility requests
  • Ability to serve on Technical Evaluation Boards and Source Selection Boards to assess contractors and advise on project value

Full Job Description

You will serve as a INTERDISCIPLINARY ENGINEER in the PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPT, PRODUCTION FACILITY and PLANT EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT DIVISION (Code 900F1) of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

Salary Ranges: Special Salary Rate - 414H: GS-12: $95,994 - $124,031 Special Salary Rate - 422H: GS-12: $101,092 - $129,129 For the GS-12: Resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer investigating and developing solutions relating to design, construction, operating and maintenance of utility systems, facilities, industrial equipment, public works installations or shipboard systems and components.

  • You will develop creative solutions to meet a facility/equipment need or generate the facilities/equipment capabilities to support waterfront work.
  • You will plan, administer, coordinate, and manage a wide-range of plant equipment improvement projects for both nuclear and nonnuclear facilities including repair, new construction, renovation, and demolition.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring project development, execution, and quality in both nuclear and non-nuclear facilities plant equipment projects.
  • You will create and implement preventative maintenance plans and will act as technical code/SME for various industrial plant and testing equipment.
  • You will conduct site visits to verify the validity and scope of plant equipment/facility requests.
  • You will serve as a member of Technical Evaluation Boards to provide input on technical qualifications of contractors proposed to perform shipyard projects.
  • You will serve as a member of the Source Selection Board to advise the project execution agent on the best value for the shipyard for performing work and selecting the best contractors for the work.
