Key Requirements

Full Job Description

You will serve as an INTERDISCIPLINARY in the COmmander, Navy Installations Command of US NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY STIRLING. The location for this position is Rockingham, Australia.

Employee's initial pay and compensation will be based upon their current duty station and/or residence as determined by the employing activity.

***See Additional Information section below In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) dynamics and diagnostic skills necessary for family violence identification, risk assessment, and safety planning.

2) family violence treatment principles for victims and offenders. 3) Ability to recognize, identify and assess mental disorders per the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual.

4) Understanding of, and ability to, apply various counseling approaches such as behavior modification, client-centered, rational-emotive, family systems, brief solution-focused, and cognitive behavioral therapies.

  • You will assess individual/family needs and explore basic personality structures in relation to behavior patterns, mechanisms, and symptoms.
  • You will assess and triage clients who present risk to harm self or others, and refer to the appropriate, nearest behavioral health provider.
  • You will refer clients with issues falling outside the authorized scope of care (e.g., schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, substance use disorders, major depression, etc.) within the Fleet and Family Support Center.
  • You will initiate, develop, and facilitate group treatment programs to address the needs of families, such as marital groups and child and adolescent groups.
  • You will provide critical incident intervention services, when requested.
  • You will develop and execute short-term, solution-focused NMC counseling treatment plans for those individuals who request such services and who present with commonly occurring life circumstance issues or adjustment disorders.
