Job Description

Summary

This job involves analyzing criminal intelligence to support Air Force investigations, creating reports and plans for law enforcement operations, and researching data to help prevent crimes.

Key Requirements

The primary purpose of this position is: To perform the full range of intelligence operations and research work to support the Air Force Office of Special Investigation's law enforcement mission with criminal intelligence analysis.

Prepares finished intelligence reports, collection plans and manuals, and guides for field collectors.

*** Salary ranges include local market supplements *** This is a GG-12 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS).

The GG-12 duties for the Professional work category are at the Full Performance work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-12 level.

The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position.

Examples of creditable experience include: Knowledge of a wide range of intelligence concepts governing the DoD law enforcement mission and operations, investigations, and analysis, methodologies of intelligence analysis and research to include statistical methods; link, pattern, and timeline analysis; HUMINT profiling/targeting; and database manipulation.

Knowledge of national and state criminal intelligence community structure and responsibilities.

Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1.

Knowledge of basic principles and practices of criminal investigations, field operations, crime prevention, and intelligence data gathering used in a law enforcement agency. 2.

Knowledge of the principles, concepts, and methodologies of intelligence analysis and research to include statistical methods; link, pattern, and timeline analysis; HUMINT profiling/targeting; and database manipulation.

3. Knowledge of national and state criminal intelligence community structure and responsibilities. 4.

Skill in producing finished intelligence reports and other products that are responsive to the specific needs of customers, to include: formulating and conducting original research; collating, organizing, and analyzing information; resolving conflicts; and presenting clear and concise findings.

5. Skill in using excellent verbal and written communications skills to include prepare and present statements to high level audiences, expressing thoughts clearly, concisely and logically.

Skill in maintaining liaison and coordination with counterpart professionals to ensure requirements are met. 6.

Ability to perform extensive research to interpret intelligence data and present the results in customer usable form; and to analyze data and disseminate finished intelligence.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONTINUED: 1.

Position is designated special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

A non-disclosure agreement must be signed. 2.

Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program.

Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.

Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

Duty 1 - Conducts analysis supporting criminal investigations and operations involving or relating to subjects/victims of crimes that affect the readiness of personnel.

Gathers criminal information, analyzes crime patterns and trends, criminal intelligence information on criminals, makes interpretations and writes comprehensive reports.

Duty 2 - Assists in the direction, coordination, review and evaluation of law enforcement-related activities within AFOSI and coordinates those activities with DoD and national-level agencies.

Duty 3 - Establishes and maintains a current series of liaison contacts with DoD, AFOSI and regional agencies related to law enforcement issues.

Interaction with these contacts includes exchanging information and cooperating on matters of mutual interest.

Duty 4 - Represents AFOSI as a subject matter expert on the organization, personnel, activities, and capabilities of entities that pose a criminal threat to the USAF.

Demonstrates core competencies to include critical thinking skills, strong collaboration skills, and a customer focus.
