This job involves analyzing intelligence data to support border security and trade operations for U.S.
Customs and Border Protection, including gathering information from various sources, spotting patterns and threats, and creating reports to guide decisions.
A good fit would be someone with experience in research and analysis, especially in security or law enforcement, who is detail-oriented and comfortable handling sensitive information.

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Trade, Operations Directorate, Trade Intelligence Division.
Location is negotiable to the following locations: Boston, MA Chicago, IL Long Beach, CA Miami, FL New York, NY San Francisco, CA Sterling, VA Washington, DC Experience: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Providing analytic direction and project-monitoring services specified in geographical or functional areas.
Extrapolating, compiling, and processing information from raw intelligence, open source, law enforcement and intelligence community systems and databases.
Identifying, reviewing, and evaluating large volumes of sensitive and complex tactical intelligence data from multiple sources.
Developing trends, patterns, estimates, studies, and tactical interdiction information. Developing and publishing finished intelligence products, and selecting the proper method of dissemination.
Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Providing technical advice and performing analysis, evaluation, interpretation, and dissemination of information and intelligence.
Ensuring that all intelligence analysis processes and products align with all Customs and Border Protection relevant legal authorities, policies and guidelines.
Contributing to short- and long-term planning through in-depth research and analysis regarding threats to border security.
Compiling and exploiting both unclassified and classified sources of information and reporting.
Identifying, reviewing, and evaluating large volumes of sensitive and complex information in support of strategic, operational or tactical operations.

As an Intelligence Research Specialist, you will provide Office of Trade customers with intelligence products that inform and enhance their ability to make tactical decisions.
Typical duties may include: Collecting, evaluating, analyzing and abstracting data from multiple sources; compiling data into finished draft analysis and reports.
Providing analytic direction and project-monitoring services specified in geographical or functional areas. Evaluating, reviewing, and validating intelligence reports, plans, guides and/or manuals.
Developing intelligence collection plans to support specific programs and activities.
Representing the organization in working groups and committees, initiating and maintaining useful contacts with counterparts and colleagues.
