Summary
This job involves working as an intelligence officer in a prison to spot and track gang activities among inmates, including monitoring their associations, phone calls, and belongings for security threats.

Key Requirements
- U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old, with a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver's license
- No offensive, gang-related, or visible tattoos on face/head (neck evaluated case-by-case)
- No convictions for crimes with sentences of one year or more, or fines of $1,000 or more
- Must pass a physical exam administered by the South Carolina Department of Corrections
- Must complete the correctional officer basic certification course within the first six months
- Ability to gather, assess, and report on intelligence related to security threats and gang activity
Full Job Description
- Gather, collect, and assess intelligence related to security threats; surveillance of designated groups.
- Monitor and identify inmates who are seen associating with gang members.
- Interview and verify photographs have been taken of all new arrivals.
- Complete paperwork/packets on inmates who are suspected to be involved in gang activity.
- Assist Contraband staff in searching cells of suspected gang members.
- Monitor inmate phone calls.
- Maintain accurate records of all confiscated items such as written material containing code and symbols.
- Complete all other tasks assigned by the Statewide STG Coordinator or STG Task Force Supervisor.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:
Must be a U.S. citizen, age 18 or over, have a high school diploma or GED & have a valid driver's license.
Tattoos: must not be offensive and/or gang related or visibly located on the face or head. Tattoos on the neck will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Cannot have been convicted of a crime with a maximum allowable sentence of one year or more, or a fine of $1,000.
Must pass a physical exam administered by SCDC.
Must successfully complete the correctional officer basic certification course within first six (6) months of placement into the position.
