Integration System Administrator

(IT System Administration-Journey)

About the opportunity:
This position is part of the Computing Services Division (CSD), which manages and provides strategic direction and leadership for information technology services to public organizations. This position reports to the Integration Services Manager.

This position serves as the highest-level technical subject matter expert providing system administration and Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) services for mission-critical enterprise integration platforms.

In this role you will use their expertise to support the current Microsoft BizTalk implementation and successor integration technologies in support of the Justice Information Network Data Exchange (JINDEX) application and other statewide integration services.

This position is responsible for maintenance and operations of JINDEX to ensure electronic traffic citations and collision tickets are exchanged with eTrip partner agencies (Washington State Patrol (WSP), Department of Transportation (DOT), Department of Licensing (DOL), and Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC)) and back to the local law enforcement agency (LEA) that created the ticket.

This role will play a key part in stabilizing and operating legacy integration platforms while contributing to the transition toward modern enterprise integration solutions.

Requirements

Some of what to expect with this role:

  • Identify and research current and future enterprise integration technologies and serve as a subject matter expert for WaTech’s integration platforms, including the Microsoft BizTalk implementation and successor technologies.
  • Ensure operating system and enterprise integration platform patches are applied appropriately in accordance with security and operational standards.
  • Lead technical assessments with partner agencies in identifying business requirements, ensure delivered solutions meet performance expectations.
  • Develop proposals and work estimates for changes to application functions or processes.
  • Quickly respond to Tier 2 and Tier 3 tickets and service requests related to enterprise integrations, messaging failures, partner connectivity, and platform outages.
  • Use performance-tuning software, tools, or measuring techniques to monitor and improve the configuration of network, system, or application performance or capacity.
  • Develop and maintain purpose-based documentation, which can range from high-level diagrams to highly technical, detailed system schematics, troubleshooting guides, application installation and configuration documentation.
  • Own day-to-day operational health of enterprise integration platforms, including availability, performance, incident response, and coordination with vendors and internal support teams.
  • Participate in on-call rotation or provide off-hours support as needed for mission-critical integration services.

Qualifications

Here’s what we’re looking for:

Nine years of hands-on experience in administrating, troubleshooting, analyzing, designing, programming or integrating (EAI) computer systems or databases in support of a client/server Windows environment.

This experience must include the following: Three years of experience working with and managing enterprise integration platforms (e.g., Microsoft BizTalk or equivalent integration technologies), including web services (WSDL/SOAP), messaging, and system-to-system integrations.

  • One year demonstrated proficiency in automating routine and complex tasks using scripting or programming (ideally PowerShell).
  • * Formal education in information technology or related field may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis for up to six years.

    • Demonstrated ability troubleshooting system and network integrations, applications, databases, web servers and other complex systems.

    Preference may be granted to applicants with the following:

    • Completed, or is in the process of completing, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer certification.

    Telework

    This position is authorized for telework; however, periodic onsite attendance is required. Onsite presence may be required more frequently based on business needs.

    The incumbent must be available to report in person for activities including, but not limited to, in-office meetings, team coordination, agency events, training sessions or response to critical service issues.
