Requirements

In this role, you will participate in examinations to determine if companies are operating in compliance with Pennsylvania’s statutes and regulations. This includes reviewing insurance companies’ files and electronic records; identifying violations of statutes, regulations, and adjudications; evaluating claims processing procedures; analyzing data; identifying procedural problems; and developing recommendations for corrective action. Work also involves reviewing companies’ consumer complaint handling processes and complaint registers, and ensuring insurance producers hold appropriate and active licenses. A thorough interpretation of rules, regulations, and contracts is essential as you will have the opportunity to attend and testify at administrative hearings to support your findings.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $59,345.00 (before taxes).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Insurance Market Conduct Examiner Trainee training program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of professional experience in insurance market conduct examinations, insurance company financial examinations, insurance investigations, insurance financial analysis, insurance underwriting, insurance policy review and analysis, insurance claims administration, or insurance sales, and a bachelor’s degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
