About the Position: This position is located in Peachtree City, Georgia with the Department of Defense Education Activity's Information Technology Global Operations Branch.

Current Competitive Service Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Civilian Employee In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized which includes: Managing IT modernization projects such as cloud migration, Zero Trust Architecture, and data management.

Assessing technical information technology solutions like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning and advising how the technologies can be integrated for agency/organization use.

Integrating IT systems, such as infrastructure, cloud services, and endpoint security, into an ecosystem that combines on-premise and cloud-based solutions.

Protecting an agency's or organization's information technology systems from cyber threats and ensuring compliance with security frameworks.

Refining agency or organization wide IT policies, technical standards, and guidelines ensuring alignment with applicable policies and regulations.

The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).

All candidates must reside within the local commuting area where the position is located.

Local commuting area is defined as the geographic area surrounding a work site that encompasses the localities where people live and reasonably can be expected to travel back and forth daily to work based on the generally held expectations of the local community.

(5 CFR 575.203) Major Duties:

  • Provides strategic oversight on enterprise-wide security policies and procedures in coordination with senior leadership.
  • Acts as the senior technical advisor on cutting-edge solutions like AI and machine learning to inform high-level decision-making.
  • Supports the test and evaluation of new end-user devices and application services, as well as the life-cycle replacement of legacy technologies.
  • Conducts high-level risk assessments, identifies system vulnerabilities, and leads the response to potential security breaches.
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates complex integration projects involving infrastructure, cloud services, and endpoint security, ensuring alignment with DoD Zero Trust policies.
  • Develops, reviews, and refines agency-wide IT policies, technical standards, and guidelines to ensure alignment with federal and DoD directives.
  • Leads the design and implementation of highly complex, integrated IT solutions across multiple platforms within the agency.
