Full Job Description

In this position you will be responsible for assisting in defining and maintaining the Infrastructure architecture for Marketing and Regulatory Programs (MRP), focusing on the structure, organization, and interoperation of hardware to support business requirements, including their distribution MRP-wide.

The incumbent reports to the Enterprise Hosting Branch Chief but have a larger role in providing supervision and direction to a diverse group of skilled section members.

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.

TIME-IN-GRADE: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.

FOR THE GS-13 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-12 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates: Administering and supporting enterprise Linux environments (e.g., RHEL) using tools such as Red Hat Satellite for lifecycle management Implementing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform and/or Bicep to provision.

Administering and supporting Azure IaaS and PaaS services including Windows and Linux virtual machines, storage, identity integrations, application services, Kubernetes, and security/compliance controls.

  • The duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Serves as an Information Technology Specialist (Enterprise Architecture), and the Supervisor of the Infrastructure Section.
  • Serves as technical expert responsible for assisting in designing and deploying system architectures including components, specifications, and infrastructure for centralized and distributed applications.
  • Researches emerging methods and tools for integrating system development strategies into IT projects to maintain project timelines and development costs.
  • Aids in establishing policy, standards and guidelines which serve to communicate Agency direction for introducing new application systems to the infrastructure.
  • Provide direction and leadership in the acquisition of contractor services to support the implementation of application architecture for the agency.
  • Develops strategies to ensure IT project leaders and application developers apply, use, and maintain version control when working with multiple vendor products and services on systems development projects.
