Full Job Description

The Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) supports the business operations of the state agencies through a variety of services including Information Technology project delivery, maintenance and support. This position is in the Agency Services area of DTMB.


We’re seeking a motivated individual who values public service and is passionate about delivering exceptional IT customer support.

Strong communication skills are essential, you’ll collaborate with analysts, project managers, and end users, offering both attentive listening and professional guidance.

Teamwork is at the heart of this role.


As a member of the Customer Service Team, you will assist the Client Specialist in coordinating and communicating IT services for MDOC. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the ASAM Coordinator with operational tasks
  • Facilitating business meetings and gathering requirements
  • Managing escalations and issue resolution
  • Completing and submitting service request forms
  • Recommending solutions for non-standard IT needs
  • Understanding agency applications and SOM Application Prioritization for recovery
  • Acting as a liaison between DTMB and MDOC
  • Proactively identifying and addressing current and future IT needs
  • Assisting with urgent application issues and tailoring solutions to agency needs
  • Participating in training and process improvement initiatives

ITPA P11 - Position Description

SIGNING BONUS:

This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $2,500. Up to $1,250 to be paid upon new hire and the remainder to be paid after satisfactory completion of the initial probationary period (12-month period). This does not apply to current state employees.

Position Location/Remote Office: The office location is Lansing, MI. The State of Michigan is not able to offer employment to out-of-state applicants that do not plan to relocate. The Department of Technology Management and Budget currently offers a hybrid work option which requires two days working on-site at the official work location and three days of remote work per week.

Requirements

Education

Information Technology Programmer/Analyst P11
Possession of a Bachelor's degree with 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project management or mathematics.

Experience
No specific type or amount is required.

Qualifications

Information Technology Programmer/Analyst P11 
Possession of an associate's degree with 16 semester (24 term) credits in computer science, information assurance, data processing, computer information, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, IT project management, or mathematics and two years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician; or two years (4,160 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may be substituted for the education requirement.

OR

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and four years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, information technology technician, or four years (8,320 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may be substituted for the education requirement.
