Full Job Description

You will serve as an INDUSTRIAL HYGIENIST (INSTRUCTOR) of NAVY-MARINE CORPS PUB HLTH CEN. THIS IS A DIRECT HIRE ANNOUNCEMENT.

Section 1109 of the National Defense Authorization Act Fiscal Year 2020 Public Law 116-92 amended Section 9905 of title 5, United States Code (U.S.C.) to streamline and simplify certain Department of Defense civilian Direct Hire Authorities to recruit and appoint qualified candidates directly to certain positions in the competitive service in the Department of Defense.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience using the Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System-Industrial Hygiene (DOEHRS-IH).

Experience developing, implementing and managing industrial hygiene and occupational health programs and policy objectives.

Experience providing technical guidance and consultative services on complex industrial hygiene problems.

Experience presenting recommended written and oral courses of action to high level management officials. Experience using computer systems for the documentation and analysis of industrial hygiene data.

Experience partnering and collaborating with diverse teams of professionals from various disciplines such as: Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Health, Preventive Medicine, Public Health, Safety, Engineering, Epidemiology, Toxicology, Public Affairs and Education.

Experience developing and presenting IH related course lectures and material.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will develop and implement health standards, risk assessments and instructions.
  • You will review research data, technical information and occupational health standards for the development of Navy health standards and program directives.
  • You will prepare requests to obtain or develop information and prepare replies to industrial hygiene technical inquires.
  • You will introduce new technical information and changes in policies to navy medical personnel worldwide and instruct highly technical industrial hygiene courses.
  • You will manage the DOEHRS-IH Basic course for the Navy, to include review and update of course curriculum, scheduling, and training.
  • You will assist in developing and/or presenting other IH related training.
