Key Requirements

Full Job Description

Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a Industrial Hygienist.

Duty Location: Lakewood, Colorado To be eligible for consideration, you must first meet the Basic Education Requirement for this position, having: A bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental health, toxicology, safety sciences, or related science; or A bachelor's degree in a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene; or Certification from the Board for Global EHS Credentialing (formerly American Board of Industrial Hygiene (external link) (ABIH)).

Courses in the history or teaching of chemistry are not acceptable.

For GS-13 - One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent private sector experience.

Specialized experience is defined as; managing a comprehensive industrial hygiene program at a regional or equivalent level that includes hazard identification, measurement and monitoring, hazard control and/or elimination, compliance assessment and remediation, and advising management officials to implement industrial hygiene practices, including issues specific to asbestos, lead, Hexavalent chromium, and silica; analyzing complex practices of work and recommending enhancements to management officials; training non-safety and occupational health staff and management officials in the theory and/or practices of industrial hygiene to promote healthy workplaces; mentoring, training, and/or coaching safety and occupational health professionals in the practices and/or processes of environmental sampling/monitoring, interpreting results, and designing and/or implementing control measures/remediation techniques; and leading teams, workgroups, or other peer formularies to collect, assess, and share information.

You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including time-in-grade restrictions and any selective placement factors if applicable, by 04/15/2026. Major Duties:

Leads a bureau wide program of industrial hygiene management and application to advise and guide bureau safety and occupational health professionals, regional industrial hygienists, and management officials implementing comprehensive industrial hygiene programs and hazard abatement.

Develops and promulgates industrial hygiene guidance, criteria, and data quality control standards to inform occupational health and medical surveillance requirements.

Builds coalitions and partners across organizational boundaries to baseline program performance, analyze and interpret results, develop improvement strategies, and lead program and practice enhancements.

Mentors peers, cultivates professional development in self and others, and recommends organizational efficiencies to promote resource sharing, knowledge retention, and practitioner capabilities.
