*** You will serve as an INDUSTRIAL HYGIENISTIST Directorate for Public Health Services of US NMRTC OKINAWA JA.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1.

Principles, practices, and methodologies to effectively anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control occupational health hazards, including expertise in hazard identification, risk assessment, and the application of the hierarchy of controls, encompassing engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment (PPE).

2. Proficiency in developing sampling strategies and analyzing workplace contaminants is essential, as is the ability to effectively communicate complex risk information to diverse audiences.

Strong program management skills necessary to manage and evaluate industrial hygiene programs in accordance with policies. 3.

Knowledge of the Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System - Industrial Hygiene (DOEHRS-IH) module.

Including the ability to accurately input and maintain all IH data, generate reports for data analysis, track employee exposures, understand the system's core functionality, and troubleshoot basic issues.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will provide physicians, nurses, safety professionals, commanding officers, employee organizations, and other federal agency personnel with technical assistance on IH and occupational toxicology.
  • You will assist in providing recommendations for emergencies and spill contingencies. You will initiate actions to stop those operations through command procedures in the event of Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health (IDLH) situations.
  • You will provide state-of-the-art technical training, information, guidance, or direction on IH and varied occupational health issues using established procedures.
  • You will approve scientific sampling and statistical procedures, analytical testing, equipment selection and calibration, proper handling of hazardous materials, hazardous exposure control procedures.
  • You will conduct workplace health hazard assessments using interpretation and application of military, Federal, state, and local regulations and facility design reviews.
  • You will participate in the administrative and technical support functions of the IH Department, including but not limited to the review of proposed instructions and engineering plans and drawings, the preparation of lesson plans.
  • You will assist in training of new IH officers and industrial hygienists.
  • You will serve as technical advisor to activity planners for Disaster Preparedness, Anti-terrorism response, Emergency Management, and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE) incidents.
  • You will assist in the investigation of work-related injuries per requesting command.
