About Midlands Regional Center

Midlands Regional Center is a public Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID). We provide 24-hour care and training serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This center provides a full range of services for individuals with severe cognitive and physical disabilities.

  • This leadership position is a specialized healthcare administrator role responsible for the overall operation, regulatory compliance, and clinical quality of a facility serving individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
  • You will establish and oversee activities and support provided by the Midlands Center to ensure compliance with current state and federal laws and regulations.
  • You will be responsible for facility staffing requirements, oversight, and documentation of training.
  • You will be responsible for managing budgets, coordinating facility maintenance, and monitoring operational costs.
  • You will oversee Midlands Center quality assurance and risk management activities to ensure a safe environment for clients and staff.
  • You will participate in administrative reviews for investigations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation allegations.
  • You will be responsible for developing emergency procedures for natural disasters or disruptions in service.
  • You will conduct frequent walking visits of resident living areas, workshops, and day-service areas to identify needs and ensure delivery of appropriate support and services.
  • You will conduct unannounced after-hours visits to the facility, in accordance with BHDD policies and Regional Center schedules, to ensure ICF-IID licensing and certification standards are met as appropriate, with identified needs tracked to completion/correction.

Requirements

  • Must be either a Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP) OR a licensed nursing home administrator
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in one of the following categories, including, but not limited to: occupational therapy; occupational therapy assistant; physical therapy; physical therapy assistant; psychology; sociology; speech-language pathology or audiology; recreation; dietetics; or human services.
  • Must have at least three years’ experience working with adults who have intellectual disabilities.
  • Must have at least one year of staff supervision experience.

Qualifications

Strong preference will be given to seasoned applicants who have an extensive knowledge of best practices of service delivery to persons with cognitive and/or physical disabilities, advanced leadership skills in guiding a large human services organization, and extensive knowledge of federal ICF-IID regulations.

Employment Contingency:
Employment is contingent upon our receipt of the following required pre-employment screenings: medical screening – to include a drug screening; background record checks (to include fingerprinting), South Carolina Department of Social Services’ Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry screening, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General “List of Excluded Individuals/Entities” screening; South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles Driving Record check; and a review of transcripts verifying educational credentials.

Immunization
Tuberculosis (TB) skin or blood testing must be completed prior to beginning employment. All new employees who are healthcare providers are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, Varicella, and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.
