This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Central Office, 400 Otarre Parkway Cayce, SC 29033.


As the HVAC/Energy Management System Technician, under general supervision, you will perform trades related duties of considerable difficulty requiring a high degree of skills and technical knowledge in specialized trade areas.

Responsibilities for the HVAC/Energy Management System Technician Include:
  • Repair, overhaul, and maintain refrigeration compressors, water chillers pneumatic heating and air conditioning systems, refrigeration control valves, condenser coils, filters, switches and other devices related to the operation of industrial type heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Perform daily water test on cooling towers, closed loop chilled water, and hot water. Meet with chemical treatment contractor monthly and oversee chemical program.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and any repairs on ice machines.
  • Perform preventative maintenance of all HVAC equipment. Perform maintenance by changing oil, checking bearings, belts, gas, etc.
  • Maintain and repair electronic HVAC controls.
  • Keep accurate record of time and material used by completing paperwork daily. Complete Work Orders and enter daily work time.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma and experience in the installation and maintenance of HVAC systems or in the operation and maintenance of HVAC mechanical and building control systems.
  • Relevant experience may be substituted for the required diploma on a year-for-year basis.
Additional Requirements
  • Employee required to work in a variety of environments.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
