The Norfolk Community Services Board (NCSB) provides treatment, support, and education to the community with a focus on mental illness, substance use addiction, and intellectual/developmental disabilities. Norfolk CSB provides services to persons in acute crisis as well as integrated, person-centered, and recovery-oriented programming for persons needing assistance and support stabilizing in the community.

Today, the NCSB provides treatment and rehabilitation services to over 6,000 Norfolk citizens yearly. Norfolk CSB seeks team members interested in providing skilled services in a public service environment. The NCSB is seeking a Human Services Aide to work with a challenging adult population with a serious mental health diagnosis, often from diverse backgrounds responsible for the delivery and monitoring of consumer medications and transporting consumers to see the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) nursing staff and psychiatrist. Responds to and reports any incidents and activities during the shift. Coordinates with other ACT Staff regarding the provision of ACT services and assts as needed.


Department Hiring Salary Range: $42,016 - $48,214

Requirements

Essential functions include but are not limited to:

  • Assists in the provision of medical services by delivering and monitoring medications, while also monitoring for needs and changes in mental and physical health. Reports needs and changes to other staff.
  • Transports and accompanies consumers to various destinations and programs.
  • Maintains records related to service delivery according to applicable ethical requirements and the requirements of the NCSB and other regulatory agencies (federal, State, and other).
  • Participates in team meetings, clinical staffing, and supervision.
  • Responds to and reports any incidents and activities during the shift.
  • Ensures the human rights of all consumers and confidentiality of all consumer records.
  • Provides supportive counseling, outreach home visits, crisis intervention and advocacy.
  • Establishes and maintains inter-agency working relationships regarding the provision of ACT services and other supportive services.
  • Participates in in-service training and in other staff development opportunities made available by the program.

Qualifications

Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.

No experience required.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Monday - Friday. 40 hours per week. 7:00am-3:30pm. One weekend per month.
