Full Job Description

You will serve as a Human Resources Specialist in the BUREAU OF NAVAL PERSONNEL.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing a full range of Human Resources Staffing services for recruitment and placement actions that are routine and complex in nature; 2) Utilizing an automated personnel management system to enter, maintain and retrieve data and to compile resolutions to customer inquiries (e.g., Defense Civilian Personnel Data System [DCPDS], USA Staffing or similar systems), 3) Coordinating orientation for new employees to explain basic rules, regulations and policies regarding employment; and 4) Researching and interpreting regulations, operational SOP's and directives to resolve general and difficult human resources issues and complaints.

  • You will collaborate with hiring managers to identify the most effective approach to filling a vacancy (e.g., reassignment, reinstatement, priority placement, promotions, new appointments).
  • You will advise customers on human resources regulations (e.g., Title 5, U.S. Code, Office of Personnel Management [OPM]).
