About the Position: Incumbent will serve as the classification action officer for the G1 DCS for Personnel and Logistics, HQ, Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) and provide a full range of civilian personnel advice for key managers, developing guidelines on programs that are often complex and controversial.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes : (1) Applying OPM Classification Standards to accurately classify positions; (2) Managing and issuing classification evaluation decisions in compliance with established guidelines; (3) Analyzing position management and organizational structures to ensure efficiency and alignment with mission objectives; (4) Delivering training and providing oversight to classification staff and managers to maintain consistency and adherence to policies.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).

Major Duties:

  • Develop position descriptions per OPM classification standards.
  • Conduct evaluations through review of regular/recurring and special reports.
  • Issue classification evaluation decisions
  • Provide guidance in the area of classification.
  • Responsibility for adjudication of classification appeals for all ARTRANS employees.
  • Participate in formal and informal discussions with operating officials.
  • Conduct studies in areas identified for special analysis.
