Full Job Description

You will serve as a Human Resoruces Assistant (Military) in the Navy Recruiting District of NRD BOSTON MA.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Establishing personnel forms, records, and files in accordance with policies and procedures; 2) Utilizing automated systems to enter data and personnel information; 3) Maintaining and reviewing records, correcting discrepancies and preparing necessary documents forms, records, and files; and 4) Preparing a variety of documents, including correspondence and reports Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=List-by-Occupational-Series Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will process separations, retirements and fleet transfer for assigned military personnel.
  • You will interview personnel to obtain data needed to verify and/or correct data from previously completed files and residual service records.
  • You will retrieve data from various information sources, both manual and electronic, for use in answering questions, responding to correspondence, and/or preparing reports or briefings.
  • You will maintain required forms, records, and files pertaining to enlisted applicants.
