Summary

This job involves supporting the recruitment process for the Navy by reviewing eligibility for service, handling enlistment applications, and managing personnel records in Cleveland, Ohio.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (MIL) in the Military Entrance Processing Services Cleveland OH of NAV RECRUITING DISTRICT COLUMBUS.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Interpreting and applying regulations and precedents related to personnel programs to include routine and non-routine actions; 2) Communicating effectively both orally and in writing to obtain needed information, complete required applicant processing, and explain decisions or recommendations to applicable parties; 3) Performing a variety of basic automated operations and functions for the maintenance and submission of personnel records; and 4) Utilizing computer applications and software to perform a variety of automated operation and functions, such as retrieving documents or files, preparing reports, and responding to emails.

  • You will serve as an initial reviewer of eligibility for naval service utilizing applicable directives and regulations.
  • You will review enlistment applications and processing actions involving complex and unusual procedures (e.g., applications for special assignments or schools).
  • You will retrieve data from various information sources, both manual and electronic, for use in answering questions, responding to correspondence, or preparing reports or briefings.
  • You will enter data into automated systems and retrieve data from various information sources, both manual and electronic, for use in completing the initial service record.
  • You will submit requests for medical records for applicants who have previously completed a physical examination.
