Job Description

Summary

This job involves supporting human resources tasks for the U.S.

Army Reserve, such as reviewing policies, processing personnel actions, and ensuring compliance with military regulations in an administrative role.

It's a technician position that requires active membership as an Army Reserve Soldier.

About the Position: This is a Military Technician position with the 416th Engineer Command, 416th Mission Support Element located in Darien, Illinois.

This position requires an active membership as a Soldier in the Army Reserve before a start date can be set.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes establishing and reviewing proposed personnel policies and practices; processing personnel actions; and establishing personnel records.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as such as Human Resource Management or Business Administration.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

Major Duties:

  • Assist staff in formulating administrative estimates, plans, orders and reports.
  • Review incoming regulations and directives relating to administration and military personnel programs, functions, and procedures.
  • Review and coordinate studies pertaining to the civilian evaluation reports, Senior and Base systems.
  • Coordinate studies and track Civilian Education System.
  • Conduct periodic and special staff visits to subordinate units to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Formulate administrative estimates, plans, orders, and reports.
