225 Corrections - Community Based Corrections - Des Moines
This unpaid summer internship in Iowa's corrections department lets college students gain real-world experience in human resources by helping with hiring new employees, setting up interviews, and guiding new hires through their first days.
It's ideal for motivated students in their junior year or later who are studying HR or related fields, enjoy organizing tasks, and are comfortable working in a justice system setting.
The role builds practical skills while allowing flexible hours up to 20 per week in Des Moines starting May 2026.
This is a non-merit internship position. Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.
